Christmas Eve 2006

We slept in until noon and then
we took a 2 hour nap this afternoon, too.
Daddy has been lighting the pellet stove to keep us warm. Our apartment is pretty drafty. We can see light around our front door.
It's always been cold in here and Mom and Dad were afraid to light the stove because they were afraid I'd touch it and burn myself.
Well Dad and I went to Home Depot the other day and picked out a gate to put in front of the stove to make sure I don't accidentally touch it.
Now I just have to keep reminding Mom and Dad that it's hot and they shouldn't touch it either.
Then this evening we went out to see the light display in a park up North. It was outside in the rain and we had to walk through, but it was so pretty that it didn't matter. At the top of one of the trails Santa gave me a candy cane. Mom and Dad didn't let me eat it yet. I really like the mint flavor, though.
When we got home we each got to open one Christmas present.
I was so excited that I got up after opening it and headed to the closest chair so Daddy could read it to me.
I LOVE books! Especially the ones with flaps that I can open while Mom and Dad read the words.
Rusty had opened a new ball for me while we were out yesterday, so Mom and Dad tried to hide it in the cat room, but I can climb the gates now, and I did to go get it. That was no problem.
The real challenge came when Mom and Dad said it was time to go to bed. I wanted to take the ball, the book and my juice up with me, but I couldn't figure out how to get all 3 in my arms.
I decided that if I finished my juice before I went up, that would simplify things a little bit. Then I realized it would be hard to play ball in bed, so I chose to bring my book.
Daddy said that was a good choice.
Come on, Mom, Time for bed.

Yep, I'm still awake...

Looks like you were a very good boy and Santa left you lots of presents. Can't wait to see what else you got other than your ball. Grandma and Grandpa haven't put your presents in the mail yet, but we will get them to you real soon. We miss you very much and can't wait to see you again. I know you are growing and changing every day. We really enjoy seeing your pictures on the blog, it helps to make up for not getting to see you as often as we would like to. Merry christmas and be sure to give mommy and daddy a big hug and kiss from grandma and grandpa.
Love,
Grandma Nelson
