A Walk in the Forest

The other day Mom and Dad and I took a walk through the Redwoods. I think the pictures mostly speak for themselves.

If you can see it, in this photo we are standing next to a very crooked tree. It curves off over our heads - nope, that's not a branch, it's a Redwood trunk.

Mom and Dad asked some tourists to take a picture of the three of us together. Mom is on a root.

In this next picture, Mom is pointing to a tree growing right on top of another tree that has fallen down and died. She says when that happens, the dead tree is called a "nurse log."

I'm glad Mom doesn't have to fall over and die for me to nurse.

This tree was neat. Daddy and I could both fit inside it.

And this last one is in front of the root structure of a fallen tree. They don't have "tap roots" which means even though they're soooo tall, their roots only go about 6 feet deep. Amazing!

Comments:
That looks really cool! Maybe if we get to come out and visit, you can show us around... Enjoy these wonderful experiences!

Love, Aunt Tina, Uncle Rob and Isaac.
