New Developments

The last few days have been full of developmental milestones.

For example, yesterday was the first time I told Mom "no." I guarantee it will happen again. I was trying to play with the pellet stove and Mom asked me to "Come away from there, please." I stood my ground and shook my head, "no." She never lights it, and I think it has something to do with my obsession with it.

Also, the last 3 or 4 days, I've been trying to learn how to say "up." It sounds a lot like "Puh" I've got the right vowel sound and the right consonant, they're just in the wrong order.

Yesterday Mom let me help her clean out the dishwasher. (Trilogy's mom told my mom that she let him do it, so she said I could try it too if it interested me.) I handed her the silverware and she put it into the drawer because I can't see into it. I also handed her some of the plates.

Later I threw away the pasta-roni box when Mom asked me to. She held the trash can open and I dropped it in.

Today at Toddler Time, I walked down the stairs forwards while holding Mom's hands. She says I'm still too small to do it on my own. She may be right. I've got the mechanics down, but the stairs are too tall. Maybe on some smaller stairs.

Also, today at Toddler Time was the first time I showed noticable signs of jealousy. I was playing Nigil's head like a drum with a plastic breadstick, and Mom noticed he wasn't enjoying that game as much as I was, so she came over and made me say "sorry." Well, Nigil's sock was off, so Mom pulled him on her lap and put his sock back on. I looked a Nigil in MY MOM's lap and it made me uncomfortable, so I grunted at them and hurried over to climb into what remained of Mom's lap and hold onto her shoulders. I wasn't mean to Nigil, though. But he got down and crawled over to his mom after a couple of seconds.

I am now regularly signing for "hungry", "more", and "Doggy." I don't use the signs for "Milk" or "Kitty" consistently. I'm more likely to say than sign "Kitty" and pull on Mama when I want milk. Also, when I drop something, I make the sign for "All Done/All Gone."

I also love dancing to music. I can be caught singing sometimes, too.

When Mom and I picked out a Backyardigans video at Wal-Mart to buy with some of my birthday money, I found it in the bag when we got home and I pointed to the TV with the videotape in hand because I know that's how these things work.

This last picture is from the birthday party, but I thought it would be fun to share, anyway.
